Paige was getting ready for a masquerade ball her school was holding. She didn’t have a date, because she had never loved anyone. She wanted to be a single lady for her entire life, because majority of the boys she met were bullies, so she was going to go by herself. She never really liked costumes, so she was just going to go with a shirt and a skirt, and some cute sandals that she saved up all of her allowance for. Her mom made her bring a pink purse to hold makeup, because her mom loved makeup, Paige hated it. Seriously, it was like they weren’t even related. She had a beautiful pearl necklace that her mom bought for her when they were going to go to a wedding together. She was ready to go, so her mom took her there in her red convertible. Paige loved how the wind always blew her hair behind, and how it felt nice and cool on her face.
When her mom parked her car, Paige made her way into the school’s cafeteria where the dance was taking place. She looked at all of her friends with their dates, and smiled at how happy they were, doing the tango and square dancing, dressed like Jasmine, Cinderella, Aurora, mostly princesses, but some were doing like Robin Hood as a girl, and stuff like that.
Then, Paige noticed a girl by the snack table, and walked up to her. “I’m going to guess who you are,” Paige started. Lilly, Mavis, Felicia, Don? Hmm.” “Actually I’m- You have a friend named Don,” she asked laughing so hard she was almost snorting. Then Paige looked around. She was friends with every girl at her school, and they were all dancing. “Who-” “You’re Paige, oh then you need to come with me, I’m Alice,” she said holding out her hand. “Wait, but I’m at a dance,” argued Paige “Without a date-” “But-” “Oh, that could be a tongue twister. You’re trying to dance at a dateless dance. You’re trying to dance at a dateless dance. You’re-” “Focus,” Paige interrupted. “Where and why do you need to take me?” “Well, the Mad Hatter told me to bring you to Wonderland to go on a mission, he wants to talk to us together. He told me to get you for tea,” Alice said really fast taking deep breaths. “Do I need to bring anything?” “Nah, but you might want to bring one of these teacups, the Mad Hatter keeps chopping them in half at his tea parties,” said Alice.
They went out the door. “There is a portal near your school, in the library bathroom. The stall says “Out of order” so nobody goes in, but we need to get there at a certain time, or it won’t work,” said Alice. “Wouldn’t it be simpler if we just go through the rabbit hole,” wondered Paige. “First of all, with Wonderland, nothing is simple. Second, we ran out of the cakes and cookies that make you grow and shrink, and the portal get’s us there without using those,” Alice explained.
She led Paige to the library, but the lady inside asked in a grouchy tone, “What kind of story would you like?” “We would like fairy tales, but first we need to use the restroom, We will be back,” Alice said to the lady.
The girls went to the bathroom, and into the stall that read, “Out of order.” Inside, there was no toilet anywhere, just a clock, and a giant X on the ground. Alice jumped up and took down the clock. She changed the hands of the clock so they read, “12:45.” Then she stood on the X motioning for Paige to do the same.
When she did, the room turned purple, and Paige turned nauseous, and all of a sudden, her eyes started focusing, and she saw the Mad Hatter with a cup of tea in his hand. He noticed the girls standing there and told them to sit down with him, so they obeyed, and sat down. “Okay, so I brought you girls to solve a mission, but first, I should probably say why I brought you, Paige, out of all people. So, Alice knows that she is the daughter of the famous Serena, but what neither of you know, it that you are also Serena’s daughter. The mission I am having you two solve is to save the White Rabbit. The Queen of Hearts took him to her dungeon all the way on the dark and gloomy side of Wonderland that she owns. I need you girls to save him,” he said.
The sisters excepted the quest and set off, packing Alice’s backpack, and Paige’s purse with a few snacks, and some water. They went to “The thinking spot,” which is what they call an empty place it the forest, with trees around it, a statue of a thinking man, and picnic tables.
Tweedledee and Tweedledum walked up from behind a tree, with a tiny girl next to them who seemed to be a new girl, since Paige didn’t recognize her. “Hi Tweedledee, Tweedledum,” greeted Alice. “This is my sister, Paige.” “Nice to see you, girls, but I’m Tweedledum, he’s Tweedledee.” “Are not,” the Tweedles argued. “How about I call you both Tweedledum,” suggested Alice. “Yeah,” they said. “Oh, by the way, we made a new friend,” said Tweedledum, pointing at the little girl. “It’s rude to point, said the other one, and they started arguing again, but the girl interrupted their fight. “Hi, I’m Mia, a worry-doll from Guatemala. Most of us live there, but I wanted to make new friends who weren’t boring, so I came here, because nobody here is boring. Because I am new, I’m not mad like everyone else here. Even Alice has gone wacko,” she said, pointing at Alice who was hanging upside down on a tree, doing some flips. She landed on another branch next to the Cheshire cat. “Hi Cheshire cat, would you like to help my sister and I save the White Rabbit? The Queen of Hearts took him to her dungeon,” she said. “We will,” said the Tweedles. “Count me in,” said Mia who had to bend her neck up a lot to look up in the tree. “Okay,” he answered, smiling as usual. Then, the March Hare hopped into “The thinking spot” as well, humming. “Oh, hello,” he stopped. “Happy un-birthday to all of you,” “Actually, it is our birthday,” said Tweedledum. “Happy birthday,” everyone said, except for the March Hare, who was very disappointed. “Fine, happy un-birthday to you, Alice,” he said to Paige. “Actually, I’m Alice’s sister, Paige, but thank you,” she said holding out her hand. He shook it. “Would you like to help us find the White Rabbit? The queen took him to her dungeon,” asked Alice. “All right, he is my best friend other then the Mad Hatter,” he agreed.
They set off again, with Alice and Paige leading the troop, although it was really just Alice, because Paige didn’t really know much about Wonderland. “Wait, I’m confused, our mom doesn’t live in Wonderland, she was the one who drove me to the school dance that you picked me up from,” she said. “No, no, no,” started Alice. “You see, a long time ago, I knew that I had a slightly younger sister, we all had so much fun, playing Wonder ball, making lollipop swirl candy, but then, the last queen torture time, that’s what we call the Queen’s major cruelty sessions, she stole you from us when you were little, and sold you to someone from the outside world, and then the queen did the same with me while I was asleep, so that’s why I had to follow the White Rabbit to get here, but your ‘mom’ kept you inside most of the time, so the White Rabbit couldn’t reach you. Got it?” “Got it. By the way, do we have a map,” asked Paige trying to change the subject after noticing a tear dripping down Alice’s face. “In Wonderland we don’t use maps, because we know exactly where everything is,” said Mia. “Wow, you’re really catching on, Mia,” said Alice bending down to give her a high five, or in her case, a low five. “Yeah, so, as Mia said, we don’t really need a map,” she said, brushing the dust off her knees.
They walked through the flower garden, passing by flowers pointing and gasping, to see that Serena’s youngest child had returned. They stopped at a mushroom, to see the Blue Caterpillar sitting there. “Who are you,” he asked. “Alice burst in before Paige could introduce herself. “He is going to keep asking you that same question until you aren’t that new anymore. He hasn’t even stopped asking Mia yet, and this will use up all of our time. We need to save the White Rabbit! Let’s just go to mom’s house now.” “We’re going to her,” asked Paige surprisingly. “Well, yeah, she misses you, plus, you probably don’t remember her,” answered Alice.
They walked to a magnificent, blue lake with seagulls, flying around over it. Alice jumped in, followed by everyone else except for Paige, who was confused, but after nobody came back out, she went inside, and underneath the water was a beautiful coral reef, with turtle shells leading up to an underwater brick house, where the others were waiting for her, so she swam there as quick as possible, right as the door opened. “Hi mom, Alice said to the lady opening the door, so beautiful, with a beautiful blonde braid, and crystal blue eyes. “Oh, come in,” she said with smile. “And I see you brought Paige with you, oh I missed you so much.” She hugged Paige so hard that she almost fell over. “Mom, how old are you,” Paige asked. “I’m 22,, you see, the women in Wonderland are much younger than the women in the other world, ’cause in Wonderland, you live for practically forever. For example, if I was in the outside world, I would probably be 50,” she replied chuckling. “Would you girls like something to drink? Your friends can have some, too, Oh hello Cheshire cat.” “Hi, but we can’t stay, we’re on a mission to save the White Rabbit.” “The Cheshire Cat’s right, we need to save him,” said the Mach Hare. “I don’t think we have time,” said Alice. “We came so that Paige could meet you.” “We actually need to leave now, bye mom,” said Paige. The girls took turns hugging their mother, and they set off on their journey, yet again, but this time for real.
First they had to get the key from the Queen’s castle. Without the key, they wouldn’t be able to unlock the dungeon, and their whole expedition would be for nothing. They climbed a tree near the Queen’s backyard, to see where she was. They saw her playing golf with a hedgehog and a flamingo with her card deck guards. That meant that the castle was empty, just like they had hoped. They would be able to get the key and save the White Rabbit, so the team went to the front of the castle, and hid behind some rose bushes to hide. They saw guards with red hats and suits, right in front of the big double doors. “Who are they,” Paige whispered to Alice. “The queen got new guards to guard the doors to the castle, when her card deck guards were with her,” she replied. Then, Paige realized that the roses on the bush were painted red. “Hey, I have an idea! The March Hare can go distract the guards, while we get the paint off of the roses, and paint ourselves. Then, we tell the guards that we can take care of him, and then get the key.” Everyone agreed with the plan, so the March Hare started to hop around while the guards chased after him, and Paige, Mia, Alice, and the Tweedles were painting their clothes. Then, when they finished, Alice went to the guards, and said in a deep voice, “We’ll take care of the hare, you keep doing your job.” They walked inside with the March Hare right by them.
They went inside of the castle. “I can’t believe they bought that,” Paige said. “Believe it. In Wonderland, anything can happen,” said Mia. They walked by many rooms, but only one seemed like the kind of place somebody would put a key, her bedroom.
They went inside, and found themselves on a carpet designed to look like a Queen of Hearts card. They saw a red desk with a heart shaped mirror. On top of it, they noticed a box shaped like a heart. They suspected that the key was in there, so Paige tried to open the box, but it was locked, and at the same time, Mia stepped on a big lump on the carpet, and realized, it was a key, so she gave it to Paige.”Thanks,” said Paige receiving the key. It was too small to be the dungeon key, so Paige knew it was for the box. She put it through the keyhole and started twisting the key, to open the box.
Inside of the box was two papers. Alice took one, and Paige took the other. “Mine is a map of where the key is, under the Queen’s crown,” said Paige. “Mine is a map of where the crown is, and it’s not on the queen’s head, for some reason,” said Alice, surprised. “I used to work for the queen before she got all evil,” started the Cheshire cat. “She actually has two crowns, one for special occasions, and the other for practically everything else.” “So where is it,” asked Mia. “It’s in the farthest room from here, surrounded by traps,” said Alice. “Let’s go,” said Mia trying to hold the door for everybody.
They went out of the room forgetting that there would be guards out there. “Hey, what are you doing with the hare, you were supposed to tell the queen and take him to the dungeon. We can’t wait any longer. We’ll take him,” said one of the guards. The other guard grabbed the March Hare by the ears, and left. “Oh, maybe it would be faster to get there if we followed the guards to the dungeon,” suggested Paige. “Actually, we can’t, they send creatures to the dungeon a different way. It is kind of like mail, only the boxes land in cells, and once they get there, they break, and the key is the only thing that can free them. “Okay, well then now we have two lives to save, and they’re both rabbits,” said Paige, looking towards the rest of the group. “They’re both rabbits! Maybe that has something to do with it, but what? If she’s only collecting rabbits, there is so many possibilities that could be true, maybe she could be trying to make rabbit stew, or a new dress, or-” “I don’t think that is what she’s trying to do, she also trapped flamingos, hedgehogs, birds, and the Cheshire cat’s relatives, many of them,” said Alice. “Well, we need to save the March hare and the White Rabbit, let’s go.”
They went down the hall to the room holding the key, but as Alice had said before, there were traps around it. Mia almost got impelled by a spike coming from the ground, while they were coming from the walls and the ceiling as well. “Can someone please hold me,” asked Mia, getting scared. “Here, hop into my purse,” said Paige, bending down. “Thank you,” said Mia. “Okay, we need to find a way to get to the other side,” said Alice. “Well, obviously,” whined Mia. “Oh, I know! I always carry around cake that makes you shrink. I also have the one that makes you grow. Mia would need a lot of the growth one, if we’re using it, though,” said Tweedledum. “Wait, I thought we ran out,” said Alice, confused. “Not for me, I always carry them around,” he repeated. “Do we have enough,” asked Paige. “Of course we do! Never doubt me,” he said. “Let’s use the small ones so that we can go around the spikes,” said Alice, intelligently. “Good idea Alice. Mia, are you sure you want to stay in my purse, if you do, you’ll get smaller,” asked Paige, bending down, so Mia could get out. Tweedledum passed cake out to everybody, and they all ate. They shrunk down to the size of Mia.
Alice led the way in and out of the spikes. “By the way, when I was in your purse, I saw this red stuff, what was it? Is it dangerous,” asked Mia to Paige. “No, actually it’s called lipstick. It’s a kind of makeup,” she answered.
When they got to the end, Mia almost fell inside of a giant lake guarding the crown, with piranhas, but Paige saved her. “Thank you so much,” said Mia, hugging Paige. “Let’s grow back,” said Tweedledum, passing out growth cake. “No,” Paige said. “Our best hope is riding the piranhas.” “I think she’s gone wacko, too,” said Mia. “No, actually, she’s right,” said Alice. “The piranhas were best friends with the White rabbit and the March Hare.” “Then let’s go,” snapped the Cheshire Cat. They told the piranhas about their mission to save them, and in exchange, they got piranha-back rides to the other side of the lake.
Finally, they saw the crown. The Tweedles tried to grab it, but then Paige pushed their hands back. Then she took perfume out of her bag, and sprayed it. “Just like I thought, it has lasers,” she said. “Allow me,” said the Cheshire cat. He evaporated, and reappeared on the crown, then did it again to get back with the key. “If you can do that, why didn’t you just do that from the beginning,” asked Mia. “I didn’t want you to miss out on all that fun,” he replied. Mia rolled her eyes.
“Hey, there’s a door there, let’s go,” said Tweedledum. “Great idea,” said the other Tweedledum. They went out through the door. “You know what, I don’t want us to both be Tweedledum, let’s go back to ourselves,” he said.
“There’s the dungeon on that mountain,” said Alice. “But it’s so far, and tall, and oh no! There’s a dragon guarding it. I’m going back in this purse,” said Mia. “That’s not a dragon, it’s a salamander,” said Paige. “See?” they climbed a fraction of the mountain, but they were already exhausted, when they noticed a small shop. “Come on guys, maybe there’s mountain climbing tools in there,” said Alice.
They walked inside of the nice-looking shop. “My name is Mat Hatter, my siblings are Mad Hatter, and Mac Hatter, they both made a living with tea, but Mac doesn’t live in Wonderland. She moved out three years ago,” said the store clerk. He sold weapons, shirts, grappling hooks, and ropes. “We’ll take six grappling hooks,” said Alice.
They used the grappling hooks to get to the top of the mountain. Alice unlocked the door of the dungeon, inside, they saw prisoners eating bird seeds and dirt in little cells. Among all of them was the White Rabbit and the March Hare. They saved all of the animals, because they all looked miserable.
They walked back down the mountain, and around the castle, to the Mad Hatter with the White Rabbit and the March Hare. When they got back, they all were thanked, and Paige hugged all of them before she left. Ever since then, Paige visited Alice in Wonderland once a week every week. THE END
